Eight Days of Victory
04:25
|
|||
Said to a father from his son
"why do we light a candle for all eight nights?"
"Because we have a battle in our hearts"
Said the father as he recalls that great time
Judah the hammer had to see
the glory of the temple be redeemed
but the oil used for this cleansing rite
there was only enough for the night!
Eight days of victory, this story that we tell
is a tribute to the men who saved us from this hell
The stench of pigs at the Altar of Zeus
Was cleansed by this miracle which showed us all His truth
A father looks towards his son with pride
As he lights the candle on this first night
He does so not just for himself
But for all the Jews who died for his right
Judah the hammer had a dream
for his people to worship as they pleased
As we celebrate on Hanukkah night
we honor the glory of his fight!
Eight days of victory, this story that we tell
is a tribute to the men who saved us from this hell
The stench of pigs at the Altar of Zeus
Was cleansed by this miracle which showed us all His truth
The miracle that occurred at the Temple that night
Was a triumph that all Jews carry with them in their lives
When times become their hardest and it seems all hope is gone
We remember that He will provide as our spirit carries on
Eight days of victory, this story that we tell
is a tribute to the men who saved us from this hell
The stench of pigs at the Altar of Zeus
Was cleansed by this miracle which showed us all His truth

Oh Hanukkah
03:14
|
|||
Oh Hanukkah, Oh Hanukkah
Come light the menorah
lets have a party, we'll all dance the horah
Gather round' the table we'll give you a treat
dreidels to play with and latkes to eat
And while we were singing the candles were burning low
one for each night as they shed a sweet light,
they remind us of years long ago,
one for each night as they shed a sweet light,
they remind us of years long ago...

No Gelt, No Glory
03:38
|
|||
With the dreidel in my hand I give it a lucky twirl
Tonight will be the night when I spin to the top of the world
The spinagogue is raging with all the best players in town
With everyone fighting to take the Hannukah crown!
No Gelt No Glory baby
I let it ride on Gimel must walk away a winner now
No Gelt No Glory baby
If you want to play then baby gimme a "HEI!"
Kick off with a Shin and things are looking down
Must pull at least a Nun while the girls are still around
The spinagogue explodes when I spin a Hei instead
Victory is in my reach I need to keep my head
No Gelt No Glory baby
I let it ride on Gimel must walk away a winner now
No Gelt No Glory baby
If you want to play then baby gimme a "HEI!"

'twas long ago in a village very far away
when on Hanukkah eve there was little cause to celebrate
for the oil that was needed for the lakte ritual
had been used up many weeks before
the elders crushed the olives and hoped for a miracle
but some brave men would have to venture out
on a quest for the latke oil, it's the quest for the latke oil
the men who left upon this quest knew their battle lay ahead
just beyond the gates of town they heard the dragon's wail
but if there was to be a Hanukkah that year
this party would have to stop and pray.
for to venture to their neighbor's town for oil
then a dragon they would have to slay
on their quest for the latke oil. it's the quest for the latke oil
past the olive trees where the sirens sing their songs
where weaker men have faltered, they have bravely moved along
past the den of nomad raiders who would skin them for their gold
and the poisonous spiders who would turn their flesh cold
by the lake of untold beauty where a villager could bathe
and enjoy the fragile landscapes that the Jews had fought to save
with the magic of the season and the prayers they knew to say
in their sights there was the dragon standing in their way.
In the end the dragon was defeated by the hands of their valiant leader who prepared to deliver his deadly blow
But one stood up against him and asked "what kind of example would they set for the children of their village?"
"There must be another way! Can no more blood be spilled today?"
Then the leader took his sword and thrust it in the ground! And proclaimed in the name of God
"This dragon shall live! This dragon shall live! Now back to the village with our oil!"
Later the men returned holding high the latke oil
Knowing Hannukah was saved the whole town rejoiced
The dragon in chains showed his gratitude
to the village for sparing his life
by torching the menorah candles aflame
while the warriors laid down with their wives
It was their quest for the latke oil.....

In the second century BC, Judah and his Maccabees led a revolt against the evil ruler King Antiochus who forced the Jews to kneel before Zeus! Outraged, the Maccabees fought many battles, lost many men but eventually restored the glory of the second temple back to Jerusalem. Triumphant and proud, Judah forged the first dreidel as a reminder of these dark days and commanded his people to go forth throughout the villages of the world to spin their mighty dreidels once a year to remember their victory. And so we sing.........
Forged from fire clay and steel in the tradition of the elders who battled to be free. brave warriors the Maccabees want you to spin this day!
Hold your dreidels high then spin them on the ground. Keep it up the longest to make your elders proud. Spin the dreidel on this Hanukkah day to keep the twisted beasts of hell away.
And so we.......
Spin! For the blood of our Spin! For the blood of our Spin! For the blood of our ELDERS! SPIN!
Spin! For the blood of our Spin! For the blood of our Spin! For the blood of our ELDERS! SPIN!
Let the mighty hammer of the Maccabees fall upon the heads of those who will not SPIN!
And so we.......
Spin! To remember the miracles
Spin! To impress the pretty girls
Spin! For all the glory
Spin! For it’s your destiny!

Hanukkah Gone Metal
04:21
|
|||
On the first night of Hanukkah,
I received a mighty dreidel.
On the second night of Hanukkah,
I received a little latke.
On the third night of Hanukkah I did receive the mystical treasure of gelt.
On the fourth night of Hanukkah I did receive the sadness of oversized socks.
I must see,
What it will be!
Hanukkah gone metal,
The festival of lights,
Hanukkah gone metal,
Are you ready for your eight crazy nights?
On the fifth night of Hanukkah,
I received a golden yarmulke.
On the sixth night of Hanukkah,
I received Judah's steel sword.
On the seventh night of Hanukkah I did receive a menorah constructed of bones.
On the eighth and final night of it all,
I received...
I received...
The gift of Metal!
Spin me a winner, baby...
Fry it up...
You know i'm gonna make you rich, baby...
Walk a mile in my shoes...
Want a golden yarmulke...
Want Judah's Steel sword...
Gimme my mighty menorah made of bones...
On the eighth night, I demand Metal!!!!!

Taking the Temple
09:05
|
|||
part 1 – The Atrocities of the King
Mad King, enraged
Misguided fury unleashed again
Oppressed, enslaved
A way of life taken away.
Martyring our people
Desecrate the temple
The time to stand is now
Or it shall go on and on and on…
part 2 – The Fight Begins
Smote the Hellenistic on the altar’s stone
Fled to the hills but not alone
His five sons at his side
Became a force undenied
Striking in silent raids the legends grew
The time is now
The brave stand proud
So follow me
To victory
The king will see
The Macabbees
Shall battle on
And on…
He looked at his son through his dying eyes
The man, the hammer, Judah’s arrived
From his might and bravery
Came a string of victories
Wielding Apollonius’s sword - “come, follow me”
part 3 – Taking the Temple
Dying
Defying
The enemy defeated comes back once more
Judah
Oh Judah
Taking the temple with the might of his sword
Darkness
Whoa darkness
The days are hard and the nights grow cold
LIGHT!
Burns through the night
The reconsecration celebrated by all
“It’s time to battle on again, through our strength they’ll see”
“Judah, don’t go to this end, your death will surely be”
Fathers and sons, rejoice
We have victory
“Raise thy swords,
The temple is yours!”
Kneeling no more!
Begging no more!
Oppression no More!
No More!!!
The light
Burns bright
This miracle brings strength tonight
Eight days
Of light
The burning candles are now a rite
Our heart
Our soul
The will of one is the will of all
They died
We cried
For them we shall live on
